This Limestone floor has an unsightly settlement crack with some remnants of a repair done by another company. After removing the “bad repair” and preparing the crack, we were able to accurately match tile color using a specially formulated polyester epoxy. This is a level 5/5 repair, meaning that we overfill the repair area and then diamond grind and hone to remove any tile deflection and excess epoxy. Limestone can be difficult to repair because it can change colors, and turn much darker as it gets wet, before drying.

This is a Limestone floor that had been sealed by the previous owner. To achieve a clean look, we ground the Limestone flat to remove the uneven tile edges. The Sealer coating was applied and we used our power float and stone fillers to fill all the holes that had opened up.

When refinishing the stone, we realized there was a lot of color and character being hidden under the cloudy white coating. The final results were spectacular, and the wife who had left during the refinishing process, could not believe they were the same floors upon her return.

When a stone floor has a “butt installation” with no grout lines, it takes an expert installer so there are no raised tile edges. Some tiles can warp during the manufacturing process making installing a flat floor impossible. Not only do uneven tiles make daily cleaning more difficult, but they also can have sharp edges.

Grinding stone floors flat not only allows the tiles to be flat with one another. When done correctly, you can have the grout lines filled and flat with the surrounding stone. This allows for one of the easiest to clean floors as there are no recessed areas for soil to get trapped.

Limestone sealing was the last step to protect and ease the maintenance cleanings. The impregnating sealer is allowed to dwell 10-15 minutes then any excess is removed by floor buffing.

This close-up shows how the irregular surface has become smooth. This was achieved by diamond grinding the floor flat and machine force filling the filler material into the pores of the stone surface.

Limestone can be one of the most difficult natural stones to clean. We gave our detergents a five-minute dwell time on the surface followed by agitation to loosen the soil. Next, we used the Turbo-Hybrid, which utilizes a high-pressure steam system within a simultaneous vacuum recovery. Using this system ensures a deeper clean and cleaner rinse than any on the market today.

You may think this is a wood floor, however, this beautiful Limestone floor was ground flat, enhanced with a penetrating enhancing sealer, and polished. This floor was initially sealed improperly, leaving a waxy residue that clouded the natural beauty. This limestone was almost white before the enhancer darkened and highlighted its character.

This beautiful limestone had been polished and sealed by another company using a method known as crystallization. They discolored the grout and left a low, uneven gloss with circular marks. This limestone needed a penetrating sealer, which protects the stone from the inside out rather than wax on the surface. This allows the light to penetrate the surface and reflect the crystals under the surface with a clearer shine.
